About Porta Air Service

Established in 1965, we have built a reputation for technical excellence and customer-focused service. To meet rising demand for avionics modernisation across our customer fleet, we are focusing on Avionics and Special Upgrades at our established center at Porta Westfalica.

This new centre of excellence will lead our Garmin retrofit and STC upgrade programmes, alongside a broader range of avionics installations, and we’re looking for experienced, motivated engineers to help us build it from day one.

The Role

We are seeking a qualified B2 Licensed Avionics Engineer to support avionics maintenance, troubleshooting, and special upgrade installations at our new Porta Westfalica facility. The role centres on Garmin avionics retrofits and upgrades, while also covering a wider range of avionics and electrical systems across our customer fleet.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a growing specialist team in a dynamic MRO environment, with direct involvement in shaping our new avionics hub from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled avionics maintenance in accordance with manufacturer documentation and EASA Part-145 requirements.

  • Install and commission Garmin avionics upgrades and STC modifications, including G500TXI, G1000 NXi, G3000, GFC 500/600 autopilot, and related suites.

  • Support special upgrade projects across other avionics platforms as required by customer scope.

  • Sign off maintenance and installation tasks within the scope of your B2 licence and type authorisations.

  • Carry out troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and rectification of avionics, electrical, and instrument system defects.

  • Liaise with the Continuing Airworthiness Management team and flight operations on technical matters.

  • Maintain accurate and complete maintenance records, wiring documentation, and modification paperwork.

  • Mentor and support less experienced technicians and apprentices where required.

  • Uphold and promote a strong safety culture at all times.

Requirements

Essential

  • Valid EASA Part-66 B2 Licence.

  • Hands-on experience with Garmin avionics suites, such as G500TXI, G1000 NXi, G3000, GTN/GTX series, and GFC 500/600 autopilots.

  • Minimum 3 years of post-licence avionics maintenance experience.

  • Solid understanding of aircraft electrical and avionics systems, including wiring diagram interpretation.

  • Experience with avionics upgrade or STC installation projects.

  • Proficient in technical English, written and verbal, with the right to work within the EU or Schengen Area.

Preferred

  • Type authorisations across multiple aircraft platforms.

  • Experience in an EASA Part-145 approved maintenance environment.

  • Familiarity with avionics suites beyond Garmin, including Honeywell, Collins, and Avidyne.

  • Prior involvement in avionics retrofit or special mission modification programmes.

  • German language skills are an advantage, but not required.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience and type ratings held, plus a tool allowance.

  • Support for additional avionics and Garmin-specific training endorsements, training, and continuous professional development.

  • A friendly, experienced team in a modern, well-equipped facility — and an opportunity to grow with the hub as we expand our avionics upgrade capability.

  • Relocation support considered for the right candidate.

Location
